Pougues-Les-Eaux was known for its thermal cures between the 16th and 20th century. The cures lasted 21 days and many activities were offered to those undergoing treatment to occupy them: fishing, carriage rides, a newspaper kiosk, sports activities, a tea room and even a casino!
Regarding the casino, the patients were only allowed to play card games and petits chevaux, a game like ludo, rather than slot machines and roulette!
Within the park, there is a huge glass building with blue frames. This was the source pavilion, built in the early 20th century. There are 2 huge urns in the centre from which the famous sources sprang: Saint Léger and Saint Léon.
