The Loire

Wild, bright, and royal are the words that come to mind when we contemplate the Loire. Recharge your batteries and let yourself go while admiring the beauty of the landscapes. As for the more athletic they can ride their bike in peace on the cycle path alongside the Canal.

In olden times it was used to transport pieces of locally produced faïence earthenware, but now adays the river is a tranquil paradise for lovers of nature and fishing.
The variety of animal and plant life to be found along its banks makes it a
precious sanctuary of biodiversity – and a superb setting for recharging
your batteries in peace and quiet. You can admire the landscapes from
the riverside, or get out onto the water if you're feeling more energetic

loireArticle_3Many opportunities for walks on the Loire by canoe or boat are possible. But the Loire is also a paradise for fishermen who will find zander, pike, perch, white fish and carp. The lateral canal to the Loire extends from Briare to Digoin. In Nevers, the port of La Jonction is equipped with pontoons and a captaincy. You can sail on this canal with a boat without license to rent at the Port of Plagny in Sermoise.
